By attacking his statue and his memory, these protestors are also denigrating ALL those foreign soldiers under the UN command, who came to fight alongside South Korea in that war. There were men and women from more than 20 nations involved, including my own. Tens of thousands of them gave their lives so that South Korea should remain free and independent.

The group rejected silence about North Korean human rights for the sake of economic cooperation or to avoid upsetting the North, and affirmed its belief that only international cooperation and active efforts to improve human rights in the North can lead to peaceful unification. It added the Bar Association’s 5,000 members prayed that North Koreans will soon see an end to public executions and forced labor camps.

GNP Sees Roh Quitting Next Year

A seasoned politician would never make a stupid mistake like this except a politician with less than 5 years experience

The lawmaker said the president will first show his willingness to resign, unveiling his plan to change the Constitution. As the ruling and opposition parties are expected to fail to agree on the proposal, Roh will step down to call for an early presidential election.

The world must face some hard questions about North Korea

They are responsible for the longest state of misery and despair the Korean people have ever experienced, even longer than the Japanese occupation of Korea. The dictatorship's ruthlessness and stubbornness has resulted in their refusal to acknowledge faults.

[NEWS] Accord adopted for nuke-free Korean Peninsula

This is great news for South Korea, but whether North Korea will keep it's word is another matter

The breakthrough came after the United States softened its stance of opposing the North keeping even a civilian nuclear program, citing its past history of diverting research facilities for weapons development in violation of international agreements, including one in 1994.
